Protesters subjected to brute force in Hajin

Srinagar, August 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an Indian soldier was killed in an attack in Kupwara district today morning.

The personnel of Indian Army’s 32 Rashtriya Rifles were attacked while they were conducting a cordon and search operation at Kachlu Kralgund in Handwara area of the district. One soldier was killed in the attack. The operation continued till last reports came in.

Meanwhile, clashes between protesters and Indian troops and police personnel erupted after the forces’ personnel cordoned off Mir Mohalla in Hajin area of Bandipora district and started house-to-house searches. The forces’ personnel used teargas shells to disperse the protesters. Clashes were going on in the area when this report was filed. The occupation authorities suspended Internet services in Bandipora and Hajin areas.

On the other hand, four civilians were injured, one of them critically, when unidentified persons hurled a grenade at the office of Superintendent of Police Awantipora, today. The injured were shifted to a local hospital where from two of them were referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.
