Srinagar, August 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir have condemned the harassment of family members of illegally detained Hurriyat leader, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, by the sleuths of India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Raja Merajuddin Kalwal had been languishing in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail for the past more than a year and officials of the Enforcement Directorate landed at his home on the pretext of an inquiry. “The visit of the ED sleuths and unnecessary questioning has created a sense of fear among the family which comprises Kalwal’s aged mother, wife and daughters,” it added.

The APHC said that the Indian authorities had crossed all democratic, constitutional and moral limits to satisfy their hatred against the Kashmiris, in general, and the resistance leadership, in particular.

The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement in Srinagar termed the unnecessary questioning from the family of Raja Merajuddin Kalwal as political victimization. He said that the Indian rulers were harassing Hurriyat leaders and activists through different cheap tactics. There is no justification of the harassment of Raja Merajuddin Kalwal’s family by the ED sleuths.

The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat also denounced the detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists by the occupation authorities ahead of India’s Independence Day, the 15th August, and demanded their immediate release.
