India asked to release Kashmiri detainees before Eid

Srinagar, August 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred two more youth in Baramulla district, today.

The youth were killed during a siege and search operation in Uri area of the district. One youth was killed by the troops in the same area on Sunday, raising the toll to three in less than two days. Indian police arrested youth activists Irfan Ahmad Mir, Aashiq Hussain Baba, Irshad Ahmad and Feroz Ahmad during raids on their houses in Ganderbal and Kupwara districts.

Senior APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement congratulated Imran Khan on becoming Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He expressed the hope that Imran Khan would play a pivotal role in settlement of the Kashmir dispute in its historical perspective. »

Srinagar, August 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami has extended its full support to the public movement started for the protection of Article 35-A, which has been challenged in the Indian Supreme by some disgruntled communalist elements in a bid to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir.

The JI chief spokesman, Advocate Zahid Ali in a statement issued in Srinagar said this is a type of a covenant between the permanent residents of Jammu Kashmir and the government of India till the right of self-determination is provided to the people of Kashmir. »

Jammu, August 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir United Peace Movement (JKUPM) has that any fiddling with Article 35-A will be tantamount to an attack on the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, at a seminar in Jammu, speaker after speaker said that challenging the special statues of Jammu and Kashmir was akin to doubting the wisdom of Dogra rulers, who granted this status to the people of the territory. »

Srinagar, August 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the SSM College of Engineering and Technology has said that police in connivance with a pro-BJP lawmaker raided the college campus, yesterday, triggering clashes.

The college authorities in a statement in Srinagar said, the Student Induction Programme was on when, all of a sudden, police personnel from Mirgund arrived on the campus and started pelting stones followed by heavy tear-gas shelling at the students, who were busy in their daily academic affairs. »

Srinagar, August 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, at least five passengers were killed and nine others injured when a landslide struck a hilly road in Kishtwar district of Jammu region, today.

The incident took place at Kulligad on the Kishtwar-Paddar road when huge boulders and debris came down from a hillock, trapping a passenger vehicle plying on the road, Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajinder Kumar Gupta, told media. »

Jammu, August 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Gujjar and Bakerwal communities have warned of strong protests if attempts were made to scrap Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution which grants special status to permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

Shamsher Hakla Poonchi, who leads the communities, in a statement in Srinagar said the Article 35-A is in the interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and vested interests are hatching a conspiracy to deprive the people of the special provision. »
