Srinagar, September 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, while reiterating his appeal for complete boycott of the so-called Panchayat and Municipal elections, has said that the boycott of elections is the best option to safeguard the movement for right to self-determination.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said poll boycott is also a democratic right of any individual. “The only double edged dagger which India uses at the international fora is the so-called participation of the people in the sham elections,” he pointed out. He said that the United Nations Human Rights Commission’s report on human rights violations in the occupied territory should serve as an eye-opener for New Delhi.

The APHC Chairman expressed his deep concern over the military concentration in Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts in South Kashmir. He said that during cordon and search operations in dozens of villages of South Kashmir, people were forced to stay on the roads, streets and fields for the whole night. Living under the shadow of a war-like situation has created panic and an agonizing atmosphere in almost all the villages of South Kashmir, he said.

Paying rich tributes to Fayaz Ahmed Wani, a 22-year-old civilian of Chew Kalan Pulwama who was martyred in the firing of the Indian troops, the APHC Chairman expressed his anguish on thrusting undeclared war on the civilian population by the Indian authorities.

Terming the occupation forces as blood-thirsty for killing the innocent youth without any provocation, he said that killing of innocent people for demanding their right to self-determination could not be justified in anyway. It is a grave violation of human rights, he added.

Elaborating the volatile situation faced by the people in the territory particularly in Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam, Syed Ali Gilani said, the people are subjected to thrashing, beating and humiliation without any reason at the hands of occupation forces who have unleashed a reign of terror in the nook and corner of South Kashmir.
