Indian troops launch operation in Rajouri

Srinagar, September 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has said that Indian agencies are behind the fresh spate of target killing of Hurriyat activists in the territory to weaken the morale of Kashmiri people.

The senior APHC leader during his visit to the residence of the martyred Hurriyat activist, Hakeemur Rehman Sultani at Bomai in Sopor, reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the freedom movement, against all odds. He expressed condolences with the bereaved family.

Others who visited the bereaved family of Hakeemur Rehman Sultani included Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Amir Hamza Shah, Abdul Ahad Parra, Abdul Samad Inqilabi and a delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement.

Meanwhile, Indian troops launched massive cordon and search operations in several areas of Rajouri district. The troops assisted by Indian police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force laid a siege around half a dozen villages in Nowshera area of the district and conducted house-to-house search operation.

The family of an illegally detained social activist and lawyer from Doda, Advocate Hassan Babar, told media that police did not allow them to meet him since his detention, earlier this month.

78-year-old Kashmiri Pandit leader, Sampath Prakash is gearing up for second round of legal battle to save the Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution. Sampath Prakash in a media interview in Jammu said that a five-judge constitution bench and 13-judge full court had already decided the matter during the hearing of a petition on Article 35-A filed by him some fifty years ago.

The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Personal Law Board at a meeting in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the life threats to designated Grant Muft, Nasir-ul-Islam. The Board said that the Indian agencies were behind these threats.

Kashmiri Journalists, today, staged a protest in Srinagar against the continued detention of their colleague, Asif Sultan. The protest was organised by various journalist organizations.

The Peoples Democratic Party led by Mehbooba Mufti has announced to boycott the upcoming municipal and local bodies’ election drama. Former puppet Chief Minister of the territory, Dr Farooq Abdullah has already announced to boycott these elections.

On the occasion of World Hindu Congress function in Chicago, massive protests were held against the worst human rights violations of minorities by Narendra Modi government in India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Members of Sikh, Muslim, Dalit and Christian communities from India and Kashmiris assembled outside the venue and took out a protest rally and staged a sit-in protest. Slogans like ‘Hum Kya Chahtay—Azadi’ and ‘Stop Hindu Fascism’ were raised on the occasion.’
