Srinagar, September 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the family of an illegally detained social activist and lawyer, advocate Hassan Babar has said the police did not allow them to meet him since he was detained, earlier this month.

The wife of Advocate Hassan Babar in a media interview in Doda said that police detained her husband, Hassan Babar, at Assar Doda when he was returning home from Ramban on September 4.

“Initially the police did not reveal his whereabouts. Later, we came to know that he was lodged at Trikuta Nagar police station,” his wife Amina said, adding that they were not being allowed to meet him.

Earlier, Babar was booked under controversial Public Safety Act in 2016 for participating in pro-freedom protests. However, the High Court had quashed his detention order, terming it illegal.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Vivek Gupta said a case was registered against advocate Baber. “He has been arrested in that case,” the SSP told media.
