Srinagar, September 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and Muslim Conference Chairman Shabbir Ahmad Dar visited the residence of martyred Hurriyat activist, Hakeemur Rehman Sultani at Bomai in Sopore and expressed condolences with his bereaved family members.

The leaders offered fateha for the departed soul. Ashraf Sehrai addresses mourners reiterated to continue the liberation struggle and said that the killing of Hurriyat activists by Indian agencies would not weaken Kashmiris’ commitment to the Kashmir cause.

Muhammad Yasin Malik while stressing unity among Kashmiris urged people to boycott all farcical elections including upcoming panchayat and local bodies polls to defeat Indian designs against the freedom movement.

Shabbir Ahmad Dar on the occasion said that such nefarious tactics cannot intimidate Kashmiris into submission.

Others who visited the bereaved family included Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Amir Hamza Shah and others.

Hakeemur Rehman Sultani is survived by five daughters, wife and aged mother. The deceased came into limelight in 2009 for spearheading a massive agitation seeking removal of Indian army’s Rajinder Post in Bomai whose soldiers were involved in killing of two local youths. The post was later shifted as a result of public outrage.

Hakeem Sultani, a TeH activist, was killed when he was on his way home in Reshipora area at around 12.30 pm. “He was driving his car when some gunmen appeared near his residence and fired a bullet into his head. He died instantly,” a relative of the victim told media men.
