Alert sounded in Jammu after Indian police attacked » Kashmir Media Service

Jammu, September 12 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a high alert was sounded as attackers opened fire on an Indian paramilitary force checkpoint at Jhajjar Kotli along the Jammu-Srinagar highway.

The Indian forces on launched a massive cordon and search operation (CASO) in Jajjar Kotli area along Jammu-Srinagar highway after shots were fired at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) checkpoint.

“Soon after the incident, a massive search operation was launched in the area and high alert was also sounded,” said a police official. “The joint operation is going on,” said the official.

The police said that the suspects who were travelling in a truck fled towards Udhampur side. Reinforcements of police and paramilitary forces rushed towards the area.

The firing came from inside the truck, SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta said. The police seized the truck. Three people including truck driver and its cleaner were detained.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt in a statement while condemning the arrest of party activist Imtiyaz Ahmad and Abdul Rashid from a Srinagar court demanded their immediate release. Both the activists were shifted to Central jail Srinagar.
