Police foil teachers’ candle march in Srinagar, arrest many » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, September 12 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, scores of Rahbar-e-Taleem teachers held a candle-lit march at Pratap Park in Srinagar.

When the protesting teachers tried to move towards Governor House, police intercepted them near Kothibagh police station and detained many of them.

The protesting teachers were shouting slogans for the fulfillment of their demands. The protest was led by Teachers Joint Action Committee Chairman (TJAC), Abdul Qayoom Wani.

An official at Kotibagh Bagh Police station told media that they detained around two dozen teachers along with the President of Employees Joint Action Committee Abdul Qayoom Wani.

The ongoing indefinite chain hunger strike called by the TJAC entered its 14th day, today.
