Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar reiterated his appeal to the freedom-loving people of Sopore and Zainageer to observe a complete shutdown tomorrow (Friday) to pay tributes to martyr Hakeem-ur-Rehman Sultani. »

Kashmiris facing brunt of HR abuses

Srinagar, September 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism, martyred eight youth in Sopore, Kupwara and Riasi areas of the territory, today.

Of these martyred two were killed in Sopore, three in Kupwara and three in Jhajjar Kotli area of Reasi. All of them were shot dead during cordon and search operations by Indian troops. Indian army pressed gunship helicopters into the service during the operation in Jhajjar Kotli. Eight Indian army personnel including one officer were injured in the two different places. The authorities imposed restrictions and suspended internet services, while educational institutions were closed in the name of precautionary measures.

The Joint Resistance Leadership has described the statement of new UN rights chief, Michelle Bachelet as a ray of hope for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, facing the brunt of human rights violations at the hands of Indian occupation forces. The leadership in a statement in Srinagar expressed grave concern over the inhuman treatment meted out to the political prisoners in different jails. »

The youth were killed by the troops during joint massive operation launched by the Indian forces on Wednesday in Jhajjar Kotli area of the district. The troops used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during the operation. »

Geneva, September 13 (KMS): The United Nations has listed India and Israel, two best allies, among 38 shameful countries, which it said had carried out reprisals or intimidation against people cooperating with it on human rights, through killings, torture and arbitrary arrests.

Allegations of ill-treatment, surveillance, criminalisation, and public stigmatization campaigns targeting victims and human rights defenders were also included on the list. »

Srinagar, September 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Human Rights Commission, Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki, today, took cognizance of a petition filed by the Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights (IFJHR), Muhammad Ahsan Untoo regarding the attack by unknown persons on a man, which left him throat slit.

The Commission Chairman issued a notice to the Deputy Commissioner and SSP of Islamabad district asking them to file a compliance report before the Commission. »

Srinagar, September 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the first month of Islamic calendar, Muharram, gives the message that sacrifices and selflessness are integral to the message and practice of Islam.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said Muslims across the globe including the people of Kashmir have been giving countless difficulties.

“Muharram provides us a great opportunity to learn from the history of Islam and sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) to stick to the path of righteousness and justice, come what may.”

New Delhi, September 13 (KMS): The Delhi High Court has granted bail to a Kashmiri businessman, Zahoor Watali, in a fake case registered against him in 2017.

Watali has to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs 2 lakh besides submitting his passport, said an offical.

The Kashmiri businessman was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 17, 2017. He has been lodged in Tihar jail since his arrest. »

Srinagar, September 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Coordination Committee (JKCSCC) has condemned the attempts of BJP and RSS to lure people for participation in sham elections in the name of perks and previleges.

The JKCSCC members, Muzaffar Shah, Advocate Mir Javed, the Chairman of Sikh Federation, Sardar Jagmohan Singh Raina and Advocate Yasmeen Wani addressing a news conference in Srinagar termed the attempts of RSS and BJP a futile exercise. They said despite attempts to lure voters for participation in elections the authorities couldn’t hold bye-election for south Kashmir Lok Sabha constituency. »

Islamabad, September 13 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) Chapter has expressed profound grief over the sad demise of Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, in London.

The Hurriyat leaders in a meeting in Islamabad, today, expressed condolence with Nawaz Sharif and other members of his bereaved family.

Srinagar, September 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred two more youth in Sopore town, today.

The youth were killed during a cordon and search operation jointly launched by the personnel of Indian army’s 22-Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group at Arampora in the town.

An Indian army officer claimed that the youth were killed during a gunfight in at Taliyan Mohalla Arampora in Sopore. The searches are on to retrieve the bodies from the site, he added. »
