Funerals in absentia held for martyrs

Srinagar, September 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership has called for a complete shutdown, tomorrow, against the killings of six youth by Indian troops in Chowgam area of Kulgam district, yesterday.

The leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement issued in Srinagar appealed to the United Nations, Human Rights Council and all other international human rights watchdogs to take cognizance of the innocent killings and threat to the life of resistance leaders and activists in the occupied territory. The leaders extended their sympathies with the families of martyrs and dozens of people injured in action by the Indian forces during protests at Qazigund in Kulgam. »

Srinagar, September 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, shutdown is being observed in Kulgam and Islamabad districts to mourn the killings of youth in Chowgam village of Qazigund, yesterday.

Shops and other business establishments are closed and traffic is off the roads in Devsar, Kulgam, DH Pora, Yaripora and Qaimoh towns and adjacent villages. »

Srinagar, September 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a delegation of Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir visited the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar to inquire about the health of dozens of youth injured in pellet and bullet firing by forces personnel in Kulgam and Shopian.

The delegation comprised Showkat Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Ayoub Dar and Sajad Ahmad Lone on the occasion prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. »

Srinagar, September 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian agencies have started profiling the youth who are applying for passports and visas to travel to Pakistan and other countries for education.

The youth, falling between 18 and 25 years of age group, are particular target of tough scrutiny. Apart from the routine screening of educational qualification and residential background, the agencies ascertain their role protests in the Kashmir valley. »

Srinagar, September 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the nursing students at Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar demanded release of their fellow, Mohammad Iqbal Rather.

Mohammad Iqbal Rather was arrested by Indian police after being dubbed as a truck conductor on Wednesday at Domaili on Srinagar-Jammu highway. He was moving to Jammu to visit his ailing father. »

Srinagar, September 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association has paid tributes to a prominent lawyer and human rights activist, Peer Hissamud Din Advocate, on his martyrdom anniversary.

Peer Hissamud Din was martyred by Indian army-backed gunmen on 15th of September in 2004 at his Bemina residence in Srinagar only because he was the staunch supporter of the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people.. »
