Srinagar, September 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shain organized Muharam processions at different places across the Kashmir Valley, today, on 9th Muharram.

A spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shain in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Thousands of mourners participated in the processions at Gawkadal, Kachikani Mir Bihari. Despite curbs a procession was taken out in Aabi Guzar, Srinagar.”

The spokesman said, “Processions were taken out at Abadpora, Awadawra, Bogha Chhal, Astan Sharif Wuyen Chadoora, Palar Budgam, Malik Gund Chatargam, Astanpora Sikandarpora, Gulshan Bagh Batakadal, Khomeni Chowk, Awdeena, Zalpora, Gund Nawgam, Sonaburn, Inderkoot, Gawmadao, Kehnpeth, Chhalipora and other areas today on 9th Muharram.”

He said that at Gawkadal, the procession was led by JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Agha Syed Muntazir Mehdi, Agha Syed Abid Hussain Hussaini and Hurriyat leaders including Hilal Ahmed War, Javaid Ahmed Mir, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Pir Ghulam Nabi, Mushtaq Ahmed Sofi, Imtiyaz Ahmed Shah and Ghulam Muhammad Nagoo.

Meanwhile, the Anjuman Sharie Shian President, Aga Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the use of brute force against mourners.

“Authorities intentionally bar religious processions to hurt the sentiments of people. Muslim Ummah should freely participate in Muharam Haram processions. Imam Hussain (RA) sacrificed his life while fighting the anti-Islam and anti-humanity forces. It is the responsibility of every Muslim to stand against every evil force in the society,” he said.
