Srinagar, September 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and activists took out an anti-election rally at Hyderpora in Srinagar to urge people to boycott the so-called election drama of local bodies.

Hurriyat leaders, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Bilal Siddiquui, Bashir Andrabi, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Nisar Hussain Rather, Khawaja Firdous, Hameed Elahi, Imtiaz Ahmad Shah and dozens others were holding banners and placards inscribed with anti-election slogans. »

Srinagar, September 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has said that Kashmir dispute can be settled through the United Nations resolutions.

Mukhtar Ahmad Waza addressing a public gathering in Kokarnag area of Islamabad district said that the lingering Kashmir dispute should be resolved politically instead of military might. Srinagar, September 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) has condemned the illegal detention of resistance leaders and activists and said that it was extremely unwise to deny political space and muzzle genuine voices of Kashmiris.

The JKSM spokesman in a statement in Srinagar denounced the authorities for creating chaos in the territory and said that party activists including Imtiyaz Ahmad and Abdul Rashid were arrested from the High Court. »

Srinagar, September 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Umar Farooq of Kowsibagh village in Pulwama was arrested on February 26, 2018 in a false case of weapon snatching and has been in jail ever since.

His mother, Begum, in a media interview said on the day Umar, as usual, was ferrying passengers from his village to main town Pulwama when some unidentified gun wielding men intercepted him outside the degree college, Pulwama. »

Srinagar, September 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Sopore and Zainageer areas of Baramulla district, today, to protest against the killing of Hurriyat activist, Hakeem-ur-Rehman Sultani, and youth by Indian troops.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

All shops, business establishments and petrol pumps are closed in Sopore and Zaingeer areas while transport is off the road. The occupation authorities yesterday ordered the closure of all educational institutions in Sopore sub-division today. »

New Delhi, September 14 (KMS): The Supreme Court of India has stayed a Delhi High Court’s order that granted bail to Kashmiri businessman, Zahoor Ahmed Watali.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday granted bail to the Kashmiri businessman and observed that nothing had been shown to suggest that his trade was an unlawful activity. Zahoor Watali was arrested by India’s notorious National Investigation Agency NIA in a case of supporting the Kashmiri freedom-fighters. »

United Nations, September 14 (KMS): The United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has listed India among several countries in his report that details an alarming level of harsh reprisals and intimidation against those who cooperate with the UN on human rights issues.

The ninth annual report of the UN Secretary General details the level of retaliation against human rights defenders on a country-by-country basis, including allegations of killing, torture, arbitrary arrests, and public stigmatization campaigns, which also target victims of rights abuse. The report documents allegations of reprisals and intimidation in 38 countries, some of which are members of the Human Rights Council. »

Jammu, September 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, at least fifteen people were killed and several others were injured in a road accident in Kishtwar district, today.

The mishap occurred when an overloaded vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into Chenab River in Thakrie area of the district. During the accident, fifteen people were killed while eleven others were wounded. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
