Deserted polling stations mock India

Srinagar, October 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed to protest against the first phase of local bodies’ election drama staged by India in the territory, today.

Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. Very low turnout was witnessed as polling stations wore a deserted look due to overwhelming boycott of the farcical elections by the people.

More than 50,000 paratroopers were deployed in addition to more than 700,000 soldiers already stationed in the territory to ensure the Indian military exercise in the name of elections. The troops were put in riot gear to deal with anti-India protests. Polling was held for only 178 out of 598 seats, as 236 candidates returned unopposed while 184 seats did not see a single candidate out of widespread resentment against India. Internet services were suspended in most parts of Kashmir Valley including Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla districts. »

Srinagar, October 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir liberation Front (JKLF) and Hurriyat leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza have expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic road accident near Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar highway in which 22 persons lost their lives and many injured.

A delegation of JKLF comprising Maulana Muhammad Yakoob Rabbani and Shamsuddin Rahi visited the families of all deceased in accident and delivered condolences from the JKLF chairman to the bereaved families. »

Brussels, October 08 (KMS) The Chairman of Kashmir Council EU, Ali Raza Syed has said that fake elections of local bodies under New Delhi’s rule in occupied Kashmir is not a solution of the issue of Kashmir.

Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Brussels said the drama of municipal elections in Kashmir under the Indian rules is unacceptable to the Kashmiris. Previous elections in Kashmir also had no result in favour of rights of people of Jammu Kashmir but it continued Indian occupation over the disputed territory, he added. »

Qazi Yasir addressing a news conference in Islamabad town, said he visited Redwani where an indian army camp has been recently established. “The people of the area have been on a complete strike since then. Four camps are located in a distance of less than three kilometers,” he added. »

Srinagar, October 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in the Valley, today, in protest against the enactment of the drama under way in the name of municipal and panchayat elections in the territory. Polling stations wear a deserted look due to people’s boycott of the farcical elections.

Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by other organizations including the High Court Bar Association. The four-phase polls for the so-called local bodies in occupied Kashmir are scheduled to commence, today. »
