Srinagar, November 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has, for the fifth consecutive year, been chosen among the 500 most influential Muslim personalities across the globe by Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (RISISC), Jordan, and one among the five top in South Asia.

The RISISC-Jordan’s annual report for year 2019, tilted “The Muslim 500″ Umar Farooq inherited the title of the 14th Mirwaiz, (traditional preacher of Muslims in Kashmir) in 1990 after the martyrdom of his father. At the young age of twenty, he became the chairman and founder of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, a grassroots coalition of pro-freedom parties in J&K. »

Dozens arrest in Kishtwar on fake charges

Srinagar, November 8 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has said that extrajudicial killings, torture, injuries, illegal detentions, arrests under draconian Public Safety Act, vandalism of properties and ban on religious as well as political activities by Indian occupational forces have become order of the day in the territory.

Senior APHC leader in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, deplored that the space for pro-freedom leadership was being choked, so much so that the leaders were not allowed to address people on Fridays. Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai said whosoever raises the voice against repression and calls for resolution of the Kashmir dispute is booked under charges of sedition draconian law Public Safety Act. He strongly condemned the arrest of religious scholars and preachers, Molvi Bashir Ahmed Malik of Trahigaam, Kupwara and Molvi Ajaz Noori of Pulwama for leading funeral prayers of martyrs. He termed the arrests as political vendetta and the sheer frustration on the part of ruling regime in the occupied territory. »

Srinagar, November 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian Special Investigation Team of police has arrested over five dozen people including a woman in Kishtwar, today.

Around five dozen people have so far been picked up by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional SP Kishtwar at Tapal Mohalla of Kishtwar town.

The SIT team arrested the Muslims on fake charges with regard to the killing of BJP local leaders Anil Parihar and Ajeet Parihar by some unidentified gunmen on November 1 »

Srinagar, November 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, clashes erupted between civilians and Indian forces’ personnel during a cordon and search operation (CASO), launched by the troops at Arihal village in Pulwama district on Thursday.

A police official said that a joint team of Indian army, Central Reserve Police Force and police laid a siege around Arihal village and conducted house-to-house searches. »

Salvation Movement (JKSM) Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt has sought the intervention by the United Kingdom in resolving the lingering Kashmir dispute.

Zafar Akbar Butt in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “As the dispute is the legacy of the Partition brokered by the UK; it is, therefore, the duty of the country to play a major role in its settlement. He strongly condemned the indiscriminate pellet firing in Qaimoh area of Kulgam district. He said many civilians were injured; some of them were hit in their eyes, when Indian troops fired indiscriminate pellets on unarmed protesters. »

Srinagar, November 8 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a human rights activist has said that, at least, 16 mentally- challenged persons fell to the bullets of the Indian forces near forces’ camps between 2002 and 2018.

Rights activists, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo in a statement said one such person, Salam Din Khan, of Diver, Lolab, was killed by Indian troops when he was dusting off his shoes during a search operation in 2002. “The army then claimed that they had killed a militant. It was later proven that the slain was mentally unsound. According to the data I have collected since 2002, Salam was the first person who fell to the bullets of forces. There could have been more before him,” Untoo added. »

Srinagar, November 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders have paid rich tributes to the two youth, Muhammad Idrees Sultan and Aamir Ahmed Rather, martyred by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation at Safanagri in Shopian district on Tuesday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a high-level delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) led by General Secretary, Muhammad Rafiq Ganie visited Safanagri and Awneera areas of Shopian and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of Idrees Mir and Aamir Rather. »
