Gilani reiterates demand for right to self-determination

Srinagar, November 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown, will be observed across the territory, tomorrow, to register protest against the holding of so-called panchayat elections.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The nine-phased panchayat elections will commence in the occupied territory, tomorrow. The resistance leaders in a statement in Srinagar urged people to reject and boycott the panchayat elections in the same way they rejected the local bodies’ elections by staying indoors. The leaders have also called for the strike in the poll-bound areas on their scheduled dates. »

Srinagar, November 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that holding polls in presence of lakhs of Indian forces is nothing but a military exercise aimed at damaging Kashmir.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a congregational gathering at the historic Srinagar Jamia Masjid, today, said Kashmiris were never against elections but meaningless in presence of draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), mass arrests of resistance leaders and the killings of youth. »

Srinagar, November 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai has said that the authorities continuously arrest Hurriyat leaders and activists ahead of sham Panchayat elections and literally imposed martial law and undue restrictions on all political activities.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said people have been forced to file up nomination forms in Kupwara to participate in sham panchayat election and it clearly indicates that such fraud elections are going to be held at barrel of gun. »

Srinagar, November 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) has said that the fresh charge-sheet filed by India’s notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA) against its Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, and her associates, Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi, is nothing but a ploy to extend their illegal detention.

The DeM spokesperson, Rifat Fatima, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that like every Kashmiri person, the DeM leadership and its cadres are up against the oppression. “Nothing on the ground will change, our leaders, like every Kashmiri, are against oppression and this stance will never change,” she added. »

Srinagar, November 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has expressed serious concern over the falling health of its Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah in New Delhi’s Tihar jail.

JKDFP spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that some close relatives of Shabbir Ahmad Shah met him in jail and informed about his health condition. He said Shabbir Shah is seriously ill and he can hardly stand on his feet. »

London, November 16 (KMS): Kashmiri representative and Hurriyat leader, Altaf Ahmad Butt, has said that India is committing gross human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

Altaf Ahmad Butt addressing a conference “Human Rights violations and threat to media in IOK” in London said for the first time in the history of Kashmir dispute, the United Nations rights body has indicted India twice in a span of few months. He said first by the former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Raad Al-Hussein in a report on human rights situation in occupied Kashmir and by Hussein’s successor, Michele Bachelet, who slammed India for lack of any meaningful improvement on addressing issues highlighted in the report released by Hussein. »

Srinagar, November 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people staged a protest demonstration in Sever area of Kupwara district, today, against the arrest of two youth by Indian troops.

The troops arrested the youth identified as Abass Shafi Malla and Ishfaq Ahmed Malla during night raids in Sever area of Lolab in the district.

Locals told media that the troops raided several houses late last night in Sever Lolab and detained two youth. »
