IOK will shut on World Rights Day tomorrow

Srinagar, December 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred three more Kashmir youth including a minor in Mujgund area of Srinagar, today.

The youth were martyred during an 18-hour long cordon and search operation jointly launched by Indian army’s Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group, last evening. The minor was identified as Mudasir Rashid Parray, a resident of Hajin area of Bandipora district. The troops also blew up five houses during the operation.

The killings triggered massive anti-India protests in Mujgund and adjoining areas of Srinagar city. Announcements were made through loudspeakers of the mosques asking people to come out of their houses and protest against the operation. »

Brussels, December 09 (KMS): Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) organised a seminar in connection with Intentional Day of Human Rights in Brussels.

Speakers of the seminar called for implementation of latest report of the United Nation High Commissioner for Human Rights on issue of human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

They said India did not follow the latest UN report on human rights in Kashmir. They asked there should be an international investigation into human rights violations in Kashmir especially UN should play its role for prevention of the violations. »

Srinagar, December 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has impressed upon the United Nations Human Rights Commission to take cognizance of continued denial of the right to self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir by India.

The demand was made at a day-long programme held at its party head office in Srinagar in connection with the World Human Rights Day. The party in a statement issued at the end of the meeting said that the denial of right to self-determination was the biggest violation of rights, which is being committed by Indian in Kashmir. »

Srinagar, December 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), the activists of Awami Action Committee (AAC) held a candlelight protest at Ahmad Nagar area of Srinagar.

The protestors raised slogans in favour of freedom and demanded end to human rights abuses in the territory.

Hurriyat forum and ACC activists held protests in length and breadth of Kashmir valley to aware the world community about the gross human rights violations unleashed on the people of Kashmir. »

Srinagar, December 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH), Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has expressed serious concern over the plight of detainees in jails in and outside the territory.

Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the ill-treatment meted out to Kashmiri prisoners stood as an eye-opener for the world community, especially the international organisations fighting for prisoners’ rights. »

Srinagar, December 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, instead of releasing the ailing Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik from illegal detention, the Indian authorities sent him from Soura Institute of Medical Sciences to Kothi Bagh police station in Srinagar.

Muhammad Yasin Malik was undergoing treatment at Soura hospital after he felt severe pain in his back while undergoing illegal detention at Maisuma police station where he was lodged since November 19. »

Islamabad, December 09 (KMS): President of Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights (JKCHR), Dr Syed Nazir Gilani, has said that after the first direct visit by UN Secretary General to Srinagar in March 1959, the June 2018 report by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights through Remote Monitoring is the second most important indirect action by the UN on Kashmir.

Dr Nazir Gilani said this while addressing as a keynote speaker on a seminar titled ‘UN Report on Human Rights Violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir: Demographic Changes and Societal Implications” organised by Pakistan House in Islamabad. »

Srinagar, December 09 (KMS): Senior Congress leader and former Indian minister, Professor Saifuddin Soz has said that the draconian law, Armed Forces Public Safety Act (AFSPA) has been causing death and destruction since it was imposed around three decades ago in Jammu and Kashmir.

Professor Soz in a letter to Director, Common Wealth Human Rights Initiative, Sanjoy Hazarika, urged him to lead a strong movement in India for revocation of the black law, AFSPA from Jammu and Kashmir. »
