Strike affects normal life in Kargil

Kargil, December 19 (KMS): Normal life came to a grinding halt in Kargil town of Ladakh region due to a complete shutdown against the step-motherly treatment by the authorities with the people of the region.

Call for the shutdown was given by two powerful religious organisations – Islamia School Kargil and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust. The organisations demanded setting up of headquarters of the proposed Central University in Kargil.

All the private and government establishments in Kargil remained closed while the normal vehicular movement was affected. Thousands of people from different walks of life took out a protest rally in the town.
