Srinagar, January 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), today, held a protest in Srinagar against the continued detention of party chief, Shabbir Shah and his shifting to the ward in Tihar jail meant for punishment of the prisoners.

The workers and office bearers of DFP lead by senior party leader advocate Fayaz Sodagr assembled at press enclave in Srinagar and raised slogans favouring release of Shabbir Shah and all other political prisoners.

The protesters holding placards and banners expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of Shabbir Shah in Tihar jail.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the continued illegal detention of party chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and termed it sheer political vendetta. A JKPL spokesman said the oppressive measures cannot deter the people of Kashmir from demanding their right to self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions.

He said India cannot silence the voices of Kashmiri people through the use of brute force.
