Srinagar, February 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops have launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Sopore town of Baramulla district.

The troops cordoned off Dangerpora area of Sopore town and launched door-to-door searches, causing huge inconvenience to the local people. The search operation was going on when last reports came in.

Hurriyat leaders detained; internet, train services suspended

Srinagar, February 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed, today, on the occasion of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visit to the territory as a mark of protest against tyranny and oppression on Kashmiris during the five years of his government.

Call for the shutdown was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by the Kashmir High Court Bar Association. All shops and other business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the road. Narendra Modi visited Kashmir Valley, Ladakh and Jammu regions and laid foundation stones of different development projects.

The occupation authorities made stringent measures in the name of so-celled security across occupied Kashmir. Indian police and troops were deployed in strength in Srinagar, Jammu and other areas of the occupied territory. »

Srinagar, February 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik, in Srinagar to prevent him from leading anti-India demonstrations on Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visit to the territory, today.

The police took Muhammad Yasin Malik into custody after raiding his residence in Maisuma area of Srinagar and lodged him at Kothi Bagh police station. »

Srinagar, February 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum has strongly condemned the detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mukhtar Ahmed Waza.

The Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said that entire Kashmir was turned into a military garrison on Indian Prime Minister’s visit as every road was dotted with forces personnel, resistance leadership caged in their homes or police stations and massive frisking and search operations being conducted everywhere leading to harassment of general public. »

Islamabad, February 03 (KMS): Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi rang up the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani and discussed with him the Kashmir dispute and the human rights abuses being committed by the Indian forces’ personnel in occupied Kashmir.

Media reports said Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Syed Ali Gilani had a detailed discussion on the deteriorating situation and the gross human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. »

New Delhi, February 03 (KMS): Illegally detained senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has rejected the so-called election process in occupied Kashmir, saying that election and selection in the territory is a futile exercise by New Delhi to prolong its illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir. »

Srinagar, February 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has sought detention record regarding senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Masarrat Aalam Butt, after he challenged his detention order issued against him for 37th time under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA).

A bench of Justice Sanjeev Kumar has asked Additional Advocate General, Shah Amir, to produce the record on next date of hearing. Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, had issued the latest PSA detention order against Masarrat Aalam Butt. »

Islamabad, February 03 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter held a protest demonstration in front of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, today, to register protest against the visit of the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to occupied Kashmir.

The Hurriyat leaders on the occasion said that the visit of the Indian Prime Minister to the occupied territory was immoral and illegal. They said that Indian forces’ personnel were committing the grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir where they had killed lacs of innocent Kashmiris. »

Srinagar, February 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested three youth from Sopore area of Baramulla district labelling them as over-ground workers of a mujahid organization.

A senior official of Indian police in Sopore said that the youth, Ghulam Qadir Rathar, Aijaz Ahmed Khan and Owais Khalid Dar, were arrested for questioning in connection with a grenade attack on a camp of Indian Central Reserve Police Force on January 25, this year. He said that more arrests would be made in the attack.
