Qureshi rings up Gilani, discusses Kashmir dispute with him

Islamabad, February 03 (KMS): Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi rang up the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani and discussed with him the Kashmir dispute and the human rights abuses being committed by the Indian forces’ personnel in occupied Kashmir.

Media reports said Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Syed Ali Gilani had a detailed discussion on the deteriorating situation and the gross human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

On Tuesday, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had a telephonic conversation in which the foreign minister briefed the Mirwaiz about Pakistan’s efforts to highlight the rights abuses in the occupied territory.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi had also invited Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to the UK Parliament where human rights abuses by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir will be discussed in a seminar.

Meanwhile, according to Radio Pakistan report in telephonic talks with senior Kashmiri leadership, Shah Mehmood Qureshi maintained that on Kashmir Solidarity Day, Pakistan will raise a strong voice to highlight Indian persecution and brutalities being perpetrated in occupied Kashmir.

The Foreign Minister said, “Kashmir is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy and our stance on the dispute is very clear.”

“Pakistan will continue to extend its political, moral and diplomatic support for the struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions,” the report quoted Qureshi as having said.
