Srinagar, February 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops launched cordon and search operations in Shopian and Samba districts.

The troops cordoned off Sugan area of the district and started door-to-door searches, causing huge inconvenience to the local people. The operation was later called off.

Meanwhile, the troops also conducted a massive siege and search operation in Manohar Gopala area of Samba district. Earlier in last, the troops had carried out similar operation in the area for two days in Basantar in Ramgarh areas of the district.

Srinagar, February 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police and troops in their fresh crackdown arrested several youth in Pulwama and Baramulla districts.

The troops and police personnel arrested at least nine persons during overnight raids in Arigam and Arihal areas of Pulwama district. A police official said that the forces’ personnel raided Arigam and Arihal villages of the district and picked up as many as nine persons.

The sleuths of India’s National Investigation Agency arrested a youth, Fayaz Ahmed Magray, in Lethpora area of Pulwama.

Indian police during house raid also arrested a youth, Hazaif Ahmed Butt, at Daulatpora, Kreeri in Baramulla district.

On the other hand, people staged a protest in main chowk of Mendhar town of Poonch district in Jammu region against the arrest of a boy and blocked the road. They demanded immediate release of the detainee. »

Brussels, February 05 (KMS): Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) organized an event of candle light vigil in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, in order to express solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir.

A large number of people from all walks of life and representatives of different NGOs attended the event held in front of Brussels’ central railways station. Holding placards having anti-terrorism slogans while standing in a row with their hands clasped each other forming a human chain, the demonstrators headed by senior office-bearer of Kashmir KCEU, Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood Joshi, expressed their solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris specially families of martyrs killed by Indian troops during last few decades in the occupied territory. »

Srinagar, February 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik has termed election and power politics as the main cause of delay in resolution of Kashmir dispute and increase in Kashmiris’ sufferings.

Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement in a statement issued in Srinagar said India has always used election politics and participation in it as a justification to delay the resolution of Kashmir dispute and has thus denied the people of Kashmir their basic right to self-determination under the garb of these so-called elections. »

Islamabad, February 05 (KMS): A ceremony titled “Kashmir Cultural Festival” is underway at Lok Virsa in Islamabad today to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, attended the event as chief guest.

National and Kashmiri songs are being presented and slogans are being raised regarding Kashmir movement.

Srinagar, February 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the illegally detained senior Hurriyat leader and the Patron of Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM), Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, completed 26 years in prison, today.

The MDM in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo was first arrested in 1993 under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA). After six years of imprisonment, a TADA court acquitted him of all the charges due to lack of evidence but police arrested him again at Delhi Airport in 2002 when he was returning from London where he had participated in a conference on Kashmir, it said. »

Srinagar, February 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, India’s notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a youth in Lethpora area of Pulwama district.

The NIA sleuths arrested the youth, Fayaz Ahmed Magray, and labeled him as an over-ground-worker of a mujahid organization. He was arrested in 2001 also and subsequently booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA). He was released from illegally detention after 16 months.

Srinagar, February 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Human Rights Commission, Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki has summoned the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Srinagar in person to explain as to why there was a delay in completing the investigations into the FIR lodged in the case of Gaw Kadal massacre of January 22, 1990. The SSP is supposed to present himself on February 6, before the Commission. »
