Srinagar, February 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities suspended mobile service in Hyderpora and Nigeen areas of Srinagar in an attempt to prevent resistance leaders Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from addressing an international conference on Kashmir in London on Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Residents from Hyderpora and Nigeen areas, the hometowns of Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, told media that their cellphones went offline suddenly.
All phones at Syed Ali Gilani’s residence also stopped working. Similarly, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq could neither make a call nor could attend any as all his mobile phones showed no connectivity signal.
A resident of Nigeen said mobile towers suddenly stopped showing signals, leaving people in the area frustrated.
The step was a deliberate move to prevent Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from addressing the conference in London in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day on Tuesday.
