Afzal Guru remembered on martyrdom anniversary

Srinagar, February 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, normal life remained crippled due to complete shutdown, today, on the occasion of the sixth martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Afzal Guru, who was hanged by the Indian authorities in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on this day in 2013.

Call for the shutdown was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik to commemorate the anniversary and also press the demand for the return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru and renowned Kashmiri liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt, from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail to occupied Kashmir for proper burial. All shops and other business establishments remained shut while transport was off the road, today. The JRL has also called for shutdown in the territory and a march towards Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Monday on the martyrdom anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Butt. »

Srinagar, February 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested three leaders of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) after raiding their houses in Srinagar, today.

A JKLF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the police took into custody the party leaders, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Showkat Bakhshi and Muhammad Saleem Nannaji after conducting raids on their houses. »

Srinagar, February 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, 14 people have been killed in snow avalanches in different areas.

Eight people including six policemen were killed after an avalanche hit a police post near Jawahar Tunnel on Srinagar-Jammu Highway.

There people including a husband wife duo died in two separate incidents of snow avalanche in Sunbradi area of Kokernag in Islamabad district. »

Srinagar, February 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi has condemned the prolonging of illegal detention of its Chairman, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, and described it frustration of the authorities.

Islami Tanzeem Azadi spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that party Chairman was not produced in a court of Kupwara, yesterday, in connection with a false case registered against him. He said the court has now fixed March 05 as the next date of hearing of the case. »
