Srinagar, February 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, illegally detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that prominent Kashmiri liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt was a statesman, a warrior, a political leader and a diplomat who led Kashmiris on all fronts and sacrificed his life for the sacred cause.

Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar, paying rich tributes to Maqbool Butt on the eve of his martyrdom anniversary, termed his struggle and sacrifice as cornerstone of Kashmir resistance movement against illegal occupation.

He said Maqbool Butt will always remain as a symbol of freedom and liberty not only for Kashmiris but also for all nations striving for their freedom and emancipation. He said Maqbool was not an ordinary person but was a leader and an intellectual who sacrificed his life for righteous cause.

The JKLF chairman said as a student Maqbool was foremost, as a youth he stood in the first line, as a warrior he chose to lead from front and when it came to sacrificing his life, it was he who kissed gallows at Tihar jail, New Delhi, without any regret.
