Srinagar, February 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Srinagar-Jammu highway remained closed for the sixth consecutive day, today, on Monday, stranding hundreds of vehicles and creating a crisis of essential supplies in the Kashmir Valley.

A massive landslide hit the highway at Marog on Ramsoo-Ramban delaying the opening of the highway, a traffic department official said.

Unless this is cleared, no traffic will be allowed, he added. »

Srinagar, February 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed, today, to mark the 35th martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt, who was hanged by the Indian authorities in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on 11th of February in 1984.

Call for the strike had been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

India had hanged Muhammad Maqbool Butt on 11th of February in 1984 and another son of soil, Muhammad Afzal Guru, on 9th of February in 2013 for their role in Kashmir freedom movement. »

Washington, February 11 (KMS): Hundreds of Kashmiri Americans and friends of Kashmir staged a big protest demonstration in front of the White House in connection with the martyrdom anniversaries of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru.

The demonstrators while urging the United States to help persuade Pakistan and India to initiate peace process along with the leadership of the people of Kashmir raised slogans “Indian Forces: Out of Kashmir”, “No justice: No Peace”, “Freedom for all: Freedom for Kashmir”, “India State of Fear: Not Fair”. »
