Srinagar, February 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations continued to express condolences over the demise of Grand Mufti of the territory, Mufti Bashir-ud-Din.

Islami Tanzeem Azadi Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in a statement issued in Srinagar while expressing grief over the sad demise of Mufti Bashir-ud-Din said, the people of Kashmir have been deprived of a great scholar in the death of the Grand Mufti.

Jammu and Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) President, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, extended heartfelt condolences over the death of Mufti Bashir-ud-Din and prayed peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family.

On the directions of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, a delegation led by Syed Naseem Gilani participated in the funeral prayers of Mufti Bashir-ud-Din in Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt also attended the funeral of the Grand Mufti.

Hurriyat leader Shabbir Ahmad Dar in a statement also paid respects to late Mufti Bashir and prayed eternal peace for his departed soul.

The High Court Bar Association of the occupied territory in a statement said that the Mufti Bashir-ud-Din was a post graduate in Arabic from Aligarh Muslim University and a great Islamic scholar. Besides holding the prestigious position of being the Grand Mufti of Kashmir for several decades, he was also the founder of Supreme Court of Islamic Shariat, Srinagar.

Mufti Bashir-ud-Din died after a brief illness in Srinagar, yesterday.

Meanwhile, APHC-AJK chapter at a meeting in Islamabad also expressed profound grief over the death of Kashmir’s Grand Mufti. The meeting was presided over by its convener, Syed Abdullah Gilani.
