India conspiring to harm Kashmir’s disputed status: JKPM

Jammu, February 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, APHC leader and the Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement, Mir Shahid Saleem has said that the India government is hatching one after another conspiracy to harm the disputed status of Kashmir.

Mir Shahid Saleem was addressing a seminar in Jammu organised by the JKPM under the title of “Empowerment or a sinister move towards the Balkanization of the Jammu and Kashmir.’’

He described granting of divisional status to Ladakh as a part of larger conspiracy to pave the way for the Bakanization of disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the BJP government is hell bent upon to crush the indigenous political movement for the right to self-determination in Kashmir so it is making one sinister move after another to distort the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir.

Noted political activist and president of the Jammu and Kashmir Forum for Peace and Territorial Integrity, Mr I D Khajuria, said New Delhi’s onslaught on Article 370, and 35-A is also a part of the same conspiracy. He said had New Delhi been sincere in empowering the people of the far-flung areas of the territory, they would have considered the demands of Pirpanchal and Chenab Valley region as well.

Former member of Parliament and a noted political activist, Sheikh Abdul Rehman said the governor in Kashmir is exceeding his brief and is taking decision which would have far reaching consequences on the future of the Jammu and Kashmir. He said the governor is not mandated to make the decisions which only an elected government should make.

Several other speakers from the Pirpanchal and Chenab valley regions called upon the Indian government to shun its rigid approach on the Kashmir dispute and start meaningful and comprehensive dialogues for settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

He said nothing is going to restore peace and stability in the region until the Kashmir dispute is resolved as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
