Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, February 16 (KMS): A Kashmiri student, who was suspended by the administration of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), and booked by police on Friday for his post on Twitter, has gone missing.
The student, Basim Hilal Zargar, a resident of Beerwah town in Budgam district, was put under suspension for a post n Twitter regarding explosion in Lethpora area of Pulwama. He is studying BSc Mathematics at the AMU and staying there in a hostel of the university.
Dean of Student Welfare (DSW), Prof Jamshed Siddiqui, while talking to reporters confirmed the incident and said that Basim had been put under suspension on immediate basis. He said for now Basim’s whereabouts are not known as he is not available in the hostel room. “We have contacted his cell phone many a time but his phone is off,” he said and added Basim’s family has been contacted officially but they, too, have no clue regarding his whereabouts.
Meanwhile, the distressed family of the student said Basim was innocent. Hilal Ahmad Zargar, the father, said that he did not know whether his son had tweeted something objectionable or not. “I talked to him a day before but it was normal as usual. Since then his phone is off. I tried a lot to contact him, but in vain,” he added.
