APHC-AJK holds seminar in Islamabad

Islamabad, February 23 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, today, held a seminar in Islamabad with its Convener, Syed Abdullah Gilani in chair.

The seminar was held in connection with the completion of 28 years to Kunanposhpora mass rape incident. Indian troops had gang-raped around a hundred women on the night of 23rd February in 1991 during a siege and search operation in Kunanposhpora area of Kupwara district.

The Hurriyat leaders deplored that despite the passage of 28 years, the men in uniform involved in the heinous crime were not punished. They also condemned the role of Indian government and its stooges in occupied Kashmir and the judiciary in shielding the culprits. They appealed to the international community to take serious note of molestation and rape of Kashmiri women by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

The speakers also expressed serious concern over the gross human rights violations in occupied Kashmir by Indian forces and urged the international human rights organisations to take notice of the increasing Indian state terrorism and human rights abuses in the occupied territory.

They also demanded of the world powers to put pressure on India to stop atrocities in occupied Kashmir, repeal draconian laws and release all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of India and the occupied territory.

They also denounced the harassment of Kashmiri businessmen and students living and studying in different states of India and demanded full safety and protection for them.

The speakers included Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, Nazir Karnai, Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt, Abdul Majeed Malik, Mushtaq Butt, Abdul Hameed Lone, Syed Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Javaid Jehangir, Zahid Ashraf, Muzaffer Shah, Shafi Dar, Saleem Haroon, Imtiaz Wani, Haji Sultan Butt, Raja Khadim Hussain and Sheikh Abdul Mateen.
