New Delhi, February 23 (KMS): The Indian police have arrested a Kashmiri Shawl vendor, Sajjad Ahmed Khan, in New Delhi.
The police arrested Sajjad Ahmed Khan, a resident of Hundoora area of Tral, along with six other persons a few days back. While the other detainees were released, Sajjad continues to remain in the lockup, leaving his family distraught.
His mother, Fatima Bano, said that Indian troops had killed her two sons during cordon and search operations within a span of six months last year. “So we sent Sajjad to Delhi in January hoping he would be safe there and also earn for the family. We had not imagined he too would be targeted,” she said.
The family has contacted Tral and Awantipora police stations but couldn’t get any concrete help.
“Sajjad and some other Kashmiris were selling shawls in Delhi. I have no means to reach my son,” Sajjad’s father, Ghulam Nabi Khan, told media men and broke down.
“First I shouldered the coffins of my two sons and now my lone son, who is innocent, has been detained,” he said.
