JRL calls for complete shutdown in IOK tomorrow
Srinagar, February 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police and troops have launched a massive crackdown arresting over 200 pro-freedom people including the JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami of the territory, Dr Abdul Hameed Fayaz.
Indian police took Muhammad Yasin Malik into custody after raiding his Maisuma residence in Srinagar and lodged him at Kothibagh police station. Indian troops and police arrested scores of leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from their residences during nocturnal raids across the occupied territory. Complete shutdown was observed in parts of Srinagar and in Bandipora town, today, against the arrest and killing spree in the territory.
Meanwhile, the Joint Resistance Leadership in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, called for a protest strike in occupied Kashmir, tomorrow, against India’s arbitrary measures including mass arrests, nocturnal raids, killings and attempts to repeal hereditary laws.
The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the unrealistic attitude of Indian leadership had created death and destruction in the territory.
The occupation authorities booked an illegally detained youth, Muzamil Ganai, under draconian law, Public Safety Act, and lodged him at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.
The targeted onslaughts against Kashmiris in India continue unabated as three more Kashmiri youth were attacked by Hindu fanatics in New Delhi while a journalist was beaten up in Pune. Massive protests erupted in Lal Chowk area of Islamabad town, today, against attacks on the Kashmiris in India.
A Delhi court, today, deferred the hearing on the bail plea of illegally detained senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, till 2nd of April, 2019. Shabbir Shah is presently lodged in Tihar Jail. The Bareilly police in Uttar Pradesh have registered a false case against three Kashmiri girl students, Dr Ufak, Dr Shamia Irshad and Dr Humaira Fayaz Khankhashi on the charges of making objectionable remarks on the Indian Army.
Meanwhile, India has airlifted 100 additional companies of paramilitary forces to the Kashmir Valley and deployed them in different areas to accelerate its brutal operations against Kashmiris.
Speakers at a seminar organized by the APHC–AJK chapter at its office in Islamabad appealed to the international community to take serious note of molestation and rape of Kashmiri women by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. Indian troops had gang-raped around a hundred women on the night of 23rd February in 1991 during a siege and search operation in Kunanposhpora area of Kupwara district.
In Brussels, participants of a roundtable including Members of European Parliament were stunned when two victims Shameem Shawl and Muhammad Lateef Butt gave testimonies of Indian troops’ brutalities in occupied Kashmir. The roundtable was organized by the European Union and South Asia Centre for Peace and Human Rights on the victims’ evidence on gross human rights violations as articulated in the UN report and the formation of Europe-wide network of Kashmiri youth in the European Parliament.
