Islamabad, February 24 (KMS): The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, has strongly condemned the Indian establishment for widespread police, military crackdowns on pro-freedom parties and arrests of political leaders and workers in large numbers.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad also denounced additional contingents’ deployment in Srinagar to further stifle dissent in the disputed territory and hoodwink the world opinion about realities in Kashmir.

He warned all such steps under the pretext of dealing with so-called extremism was tantamount to radicalising the youth; and indeed the regime aimed at instigating and provoking the restless and suppressed people to implement its plan and policy of ethnic cleansing in Kashmir.

He said each and every fundamental right of the Kashmiris is incorporated n the UN charter, resolutions and the special clauses of the Indian constitution. Therefore, he stated, the Indian regime by trying to scrap the necessary clauses would only be thwarting world efforts towards a negotiated peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

He demanded prompt action by Security Council in the current situation of Kashmir. He said a Commission of Inquiry as recommended by the Commissioner of Human Rights in its June 2018 report be constituted and deputed to Kashmir for making an on spot assessment of the conditions in the region.
