New York, February 27 (KMS): The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has appeal to the governments of Pakistan and India to exercise maximum restraint to ensure that the situation does not further deteriorate.

The UN Chief Spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, told media in New York that Antonio Guterres was following the situation in South Asia and had called for maximum restraint by both countries.

Guterres is on his way back to New York from Geneva and Dujarric told reporters, “I spoke to the Secretary General not long ago, before he boarded his plane. He is obviously following the situation very closely and reiterates his urgent appeal to both the governments to exercise maximum restraint to ensure that the situation does not further deteriorate”.

Asked about the Indian government’s claim of 350 casualties in an attack across the Line of Control, Dujarric said, “We don’t have any information on possible casualties. We have seen different press reports.”
