World urged to turn attention to Kashmir

Srinagar, March 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their continued acts of state terrorism martyred 26 Kashmiris including one child during the outgoing month of March.

According to the data released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, today, of those martyred, a school principal was killed in police custody at infamous Cargo Camp in Srinagar. During the period, 251 people were critically injured when the troops used brute force on civilian protesters in different areas of the territory, while 148 persons were arrested in house raids and crackdown operations. The troops also damaged 51 residential houses during the month. »

Jammu, March 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has said that sham elections are no alternative to right to self-determination.

The JKPM Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem in a statement issued in Jammu said that the people of Kashmir had been sacrificing for the last 70 years and they had no interest in the farcical elections. He said that the Indian forces had started fresh arrest spree ahead of the parliamentary elections in the territory, adding that Kashmir had been turned into a police state. »

New Delhi, March 31 (KMS): A MiG 27 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed, today, near Jodhpur in Rajasthan, official sources said.

The MiG 27 UPG jet was on a routine mission, they said. No further details were immediately available. »

Srinagar, March 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, another Indian soldier committed suicide by shooting himself dead in Srinagar on Sunday morning. He is the second Indian soldier who committed suicide in less than twenty-four hours.

The deceased soldier was identified as Ramphul Meena and he was associated with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

A police officer said that the soldier Meena shot himself with his service rifle inside his camp at Sericulture Office in Solina area of Srinagar while he was on duty. »

Srinagar, March 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, six people were killed and one was critically injured, today, when a vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Rajouri district.

The accident occurred at Ujhan-Dhandkote in Darhal area around 12.30 am when the driver of the private vehicle, which was on its way to village Sabzi, lost control while negotiating a turn, a police official said.

He said local residents launched a rescue operation immediately and were joined by police parties and a team of doctors and paramedics. »

Srinagar, March 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian soldiers shot and injured two motorcyclists in Pulwama district.

A police official said that soldiers of 55 Indian army’s Rashtriya Rifles fired upon Shahid Farooq and Aqib Ahmad Dar, residents of Pirchoo and Ashminder villages of the district respectively in Bandzoo village.

The injured motorcyclists were taken to Pulwama hospital where doctors referred them to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar. »

Srinagar, March 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Acting Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Abdul Hameed Butt has said that curbs, arrests and bans on political organizations cannot suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom movement.

Abdul Hameed Butt was addressing a prayers session in connection with the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent martyred Kashmiri freedom leaders, Ashfaq Majeed Wani, Shabbir Siddiqi, Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, Advocate Jaleel Andrabi and Dargah Hazratbal martyrs which was held at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Eidgah, Srinagar. »

DFP terms attaching of Shah’s property political vendetta

Srinagar, March 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that seeking resolution of the Kashmir dispute is neither terror nor crime.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a gathering in Srinagar said that India should not criminalize the Kashmiris’ political aspirations which were rooted in history and principle of justice. He said that the Hurriyat leadership had always taken a realistic and principled stance and advocated dialogue among stakeholders to find an acceptable solution for all parties involved in the dispute and for friendship between Pakistan and India. He said that the Hurriyat leaders had always advocated and would continue to push for dialogue as it was the way forward.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front in a statement issued in Srinagar said that New Delhi should read writing on the wall that Kashmiris would not compromise on their fundamental rights including the right to self-determination. »

Srinagar, March 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the members of High Court Bar Association abstained from work, today, to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of noted Kashmiri human rights lawyer, Advocate Jaleel Andrabi.

The HCBA at the General Body meeting of its members criticized the authorities for disallowing it from holding a seminar titled “The Right to self-determination and Indian repression in Kashmir” at District Court Complex Batamaloo in Srinagar, today. The HCBA was scheduled to organize the event, today, but the authorities did not allow the same.

Srinagar, March 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a soldier of Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was injured in a grenade attack in Pulwama, today.

Unidentified persons lobbed a grenade on a CRPF bunker in Pulwama town, leaving one soldier injured.

Soon after the incident, Indian troops and police personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
