Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and other Hurriyat leaders have strongly condemned the authorities for sealing Jamaat-run schools.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar termed such measures brutal and undemocratic. He said these unethical acts are a glaring example of highhandedness that undermining the democratic principles and values which they are claiming across the world.

He said banning Jamaat-e-Islami, sealing its educational institutions and its assets including the houses of its members and throwing their families out of their homes is inhuman and unethical and will further deteriorate the situation.

The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, Muhammad Rafiq Ganaie in his statement in Srinagar also condemned the authorities’ action of sealing schools run by Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT) and houses of several Jamaat-e-Islami activists.

He said Jamaat-e-Islami is known for its socio-religious and humanitarian work across the region and banning it is an utter example of imperialistic mindset of India. After banning the Jamaat-e-Islami, police have started sealing the residential houses of its members which has created panic across the region.

He said the authorities used all its resources to harm the Kashmiris’ movement but it is still on. India can never kill the sentiment that has always prevailed among the people, he said, adding India is using all its tactics but will never succeed in its nefarious designs.

The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in a statement while condemning the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami, said, “It is part of a provocative and motivated crusade against a particular community. Political advantage is being extracted out of the prevailing hostile situation by creating deep divisions amongst sections of the society.”
