Geneva, March 07 (KMS): The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR), Michelle Bachelet, has warned India over divisive policies and harassment of Muslims in the country.

Michelle Bachelet in her annual report to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva said that divisive policies of India can undermine economic growth. She said that narrow political agendas were marginalising vulnerable people in an already unequal society in India. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has said that Kashmiris are yearning for final settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said the people of Kashmir want final solution of the dispute to put an end to the uncertainty as it is the root cause of immense their sufferings.

He said the unresolved Kashmir dispute has been a greatest tragedy humanity ever witnessed, adding, New Delhi is entirely responsible for pushing the Kashmir youth to the wall and continues to ignore the basic reality and ground situation. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities booked the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and chief spokesman of Jamaat-e-Islami of the territory, Advocate Zahid Ali, under black law, Public Safety Act (PSA), today.

A JKLF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Muhammad Yasin Malik, who was arrested on February 22, 2019, was booked under the draconian law, Public Safety Act, and shifted from Kothi Bagh police station in Srinagar to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. »

Indian government has banned Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (Indian administered) for five years. This socio-religious organization has been banned a third time by BJP government in power in Delhi. The JI was first banned in 1975 during the emergency for opposing the Indira-Abdullah accord and second time in 1990. The second ban was revoked in 1993 by the P.V. Narasimha Rao headed Congress government.

JI runs around 500 schools and orphanages, where more than five lakh children are enrolled. At least 100 Jamaat activists and leaders including its chief Dr Hameed Fayaz have been arrested. Properties of scores of Jamaat leaders have been sealed by the police on the directions of deputy commissioners of various districts of Kashmir in the wake of New Delhi’s ban order. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred a youth in Kupwara district.

The troops martyred the youth during a cordon and search operation at Badra Payeen Kralgund in Handwara area of the district. The operation was going on till last reports came in.

An Indian army officer claimed that the youth was a militant and was killed in a clash with the troops, last night. »
