Shutdown in IOK tomorrow against India’s repressive measures » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership has called for a complete shutdown, tomorrow, against India’s measures to suppress the Kashmir’s freedom struggle like fiddling with the State Subject Law Article 35-A, arrest and harassment of Hurriyat leaders and activists by Indian police.

The JRL in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, also said that peaceful protests would be held across the valley after Friday prayers. It said that the spree of arrests, ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and attempts to tinker with hereditary state subject law, Article 35-A, would be opposed, tooth and nail.

The statement said that the arbitrary arrest and detention of senior resistance leader and JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and many others under draconian law Public Safety Act and their shifting to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu was a most condemnable act.

The JRL appealed to the imams and khateebs of all mosques to raise their voice against the anti-Kashmir policies of India in the territory. The leaders said that the Kashmir dispute was a major obstacle to the lasting peace in the entire region. They stressed the need for settlement of the Kashmir dispute on emergency basis in view of the escalating tension between the two nuclear-armed states, Pakistan and India.
