Islamabad, March 08 (KMS): The Hurriyat AJK leaders held a protest demonstration in Islamabad, today, against the detention of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, under Public Safety Act (PSA) and ban on Jamaat-e-Islami occupied Kashmir besides India’s fiddling with the State Subject Law Article 35-A and intimidating raids by India’s National Investigation Agency in the territory.

The purpose of the demonstration was to register protest on the call of the Joint Resistance Leadership in occupied Kashmir comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

Addressing the demonstration, the speakers condemned in strongest words the arrest of JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik, slapping of draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) on him and shifting him to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu and termed it frustration of the authorities. They said that India would never succeed suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing liberation movement through such cheap tactics, adding that liberation movement would continue till complete success.

They also expressed concern over the plight of Kashmiri political leaders languishing in different jails of India and the territory. They said that the Indian authorities would be responsible if political leaders including Yasin Malik were harmed in Jammu jail.

The Hurriyat leaders also denounced the continued house detention of APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, the Hurriyat forum Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and others and termed it frustration of the occupation authorities. They said India wants to keep the Hurriyat leaders away from the Kashmiri people but such tactics could not weaken the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiris.

The Hurriyat leaders also condemned the imposition of ban on Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir and arrest of its leadership. They also denounced the detention of JI chief spokesman, Advocate Zahid Ali under PSA and shifting him to Srinagar central jail. They termed the fresh arrest spree in the territory illegal and undemocratic and demanded release of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists.
