Srinagar, March 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an Indian soldier was shot dead by unknown gunmen at Pingleena in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, this afternoon.

The 25-year old soldier was shot at by the masked men outside his home at Naik Mohalla in Pingleena village of the district. »

Kashmir echoes in Europe capitals
Srinagar, March 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has said that the massacre of the Kashmiris by Indian forces on daily basis has exposed New Delhi as an aggressor before the comity of the nations.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said India has never been serious about addressing the Kashmir dispute in its historical perspective. On the contrary, he added that the country had been dealing with the political dispute with an iron fist and Delhi’s military approach was guiding BJP’s policy on Kashmir. He reiterated that such approach would neither alter the fact of the Kashmir dispute nor would people of Kashmir surrender their demand for its just settlement. »

United Nations, Geneva, March 13 (KMS): Kashmiris dominated United Nations activities for a whole day, as they descended on Geneva for a protest and a photo exhibition at Swiss Press Club and a seminar on the sidelines of a Human Rights Council session.

A protest in front of Palais de Nations was a highlight of the day as nearly 300 Kashmiris from across Europe held a peaceful demonstration, condemning human rights abuses by Indian government and its army in occupied Kashmir and asked the UN member states to support a referendum in Jammu and Kashmir. The protest was led by Kashmiri leader, Altaf Hussain Wani. »

Srinagar, March 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Tral area of south Kashmir on the third consecutive day, today, against the killing of three youth by Indian troops on Sunday.

All the shops and other business establishments are closed and traffic is off the roads in the area.

The youth were martyred by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Pinglish area of Tral on Sunday.

Srinagar, March 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) has condemned the summoning of Hurriyat forum Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, by India’s National Investigation Agency in New Delhi for questioning.

The KCSDS in a statement issued in Srinagar criticized India for using its non political institutions to suppress and persecute the political leadership of occupied Kashmir for demanding right to self- determination for the Kashmiris. It said the very right has been promised by India and upheld by international community through the United Nations Security Council. »

Srinagar, March 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association will challenge the new excise policy before the High Court to seek appropriate direction for banning the sale, storage and consumption of liquor in the territory.

The development came after the HCBA executive body meeting in Srinagar wherein it expressed anguish and resentment over the new excise policy that allows new liquor vendors to come up at a minimum distance of 100 meters from religious places, schools, hospitals, and nearest liquor shops as against 300 meters in the earlier policy. »

London, March 13 (KMS): South Asia Centre for Peace and Human Rights (SACFPHR) in coordination with International Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) and Kashmir Youth Assembly (KYA) held a Kashmir roadside show outside the Commonwealth Secretariat in London where 57 High Commissioners attended the annual Commonwealth Day celebrations, presided over by His Royal Highness, Prince Charles.

Under the patronage of SACFPHR Chairman, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, representatives of the Commonwealth countries who were visiting viewed the Roadside show. The exhibition depicted the gross human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. »
