Students protest NIA notice to Mirwaiz

Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has expressed concern over the unabated use of repressive measures by India against peaceful civilians, resistance leaders and activists in the territory.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said the Indian authorities are hell bent upon curbing and strangulating the popular aspirations for the right to self-determination through nocturnal raids, mass arrests and invoking of draconian Public Safety Act on freedom-loving people. However, the APHC Chairman said the peoples’ sentiment for freedom has touched the pinnacle and the liberation struggle emerged as invincible, against all odds.

The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement condemned the slapping of draconian Public Safety Act on religious scholar, Maulana Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri and said that such undemocratic act could not weaken the sentiment of Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination. »

Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, unknown gunmen, today, shot dead a woman Special Police Officer (SPO) in Shopian district.

A woman SPO identified as Khushboo Jan, a resident of Vehil village of Shopian district, was fired upon by unknown gunmen at her house in Vehil village, leaving her critically injured.

Soon after the incident, she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, scores of students from Islamia College, Srinagar, today, took out a protest rally against the summoning of Hurriyat forum Chairmanm, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by the Indian National Investigation Agency to New Delhi and the crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami and other religious leaders and activists.

The protesting students said that Muslims of Kashmir, irrespective of their political ideologies, had a deep emotional and religious association with the pulpit of Jamia Masjid and religious head, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. »

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Repressive measures against peaceful and unarmed civilians including resistance leaders and activists are condemnable. The coercive measures will yield nothing but devastation, he added. »

Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, as many as 11 people were killed and five injured in a tragic road accident in Ramban district of Jammu region.

The deceased include two women and a child. CMO Ramban, Dr S D Khan confirmed ten deaths in the accident. “All ten were brought dead to DH Ramban,” he said. »

Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a resolution condemning the harassment of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and crackdown on workers of socio-religious organisations was read out at several mosques in mosques across the Kashmir valley.

A statement issued by Mutahida Majlis Ulama in Srinagar said that the resolution expressed solidarity with Mirwaiz and vowed to stand by him at a time when he was being harassed and victimised by the Indian authorities.

Denouncing the NIA summons, the MMU resolution described it as assault on religious affairs of Muslims. »

Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Pairwan-e-Wilayat has condemned the summoning of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by National Investigation Agency to New Delhi in the name of questioning and ban on Jamaat-e-Islami.

Pairwan-e-Wilayat head Maulana Sibte Mohammad Shabir Qumi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that political leadership and people of Kashmir were being harassed for raising their voice against Indian atrocities. If the NIA wants to question anyone, they can do so in the valley, he said. »

Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has condemned the slapping of draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) on Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith vice president Maulana Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, and shifting him to a Jammu jail.

Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said such undemocratic act could not weaken the sentiment of Kashmiri people for right to self-determination. “Arresting and slapping PSA on a prominent scholar is an attack on religious sentiments of the people”, he added and demanded his immediate release. »

Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, members of various trade bodies staged a protest demonstration at Lal Chowk in Srinagar against the summons sent by the National Investigating Agency to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and ban on Jamaat-e-Islami.

Traders were holding placards that read “Stop harassment of our leaders”, “Stop interference in our religious affairs”, “NIA summons to Mirwaiz not acceptable.” »

New Delhi, March 16 (KMS): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Naseem Gilani, son of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, to appear before it on March 22 at its New Delhi headquarters in a fake case.

The ED notice to Naseem Gilani, a professor at Agriculture University, Srinagar, comes less than a week after the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) summoned him to New Delhi in a false funding case.

In 2017, the ED had summoned Syed Ali Gilani to its office in Srinagar for hearing in a fake case dating back to June 2002. »
