Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Pairwan-e-Wilayat has condemned the summoning of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by National Investigation Agency to New Delhi in the name of questioning and ban on Jamaat-e-Islami.

Pairwan-e-Wilayat head Maulana Sibte Mohammad Shabir Qumi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that political leadership and people of Kashmir were being harassed for raising their voice against Indian atrocities. If the NIA wants to question anyone, they can do so in the valley, he said.

Maulana Qumi denounced the ban on the socio-religious organization Jamaat-e-Islami by India and detention of its top leadership. “Jamaat is a well-established organization that has always helped Kashmiris and other people. It has also helped in developing the education sector in the Valley and has always been at the forefront for the uplift of the backward.”

He also condemned the arrest of Muhammad Yasin Malik under the draconian law, Public Safety Act. Yasin Malik is currently languishing in Kot Bhalwal jail, Jammu.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement in a statement strongly condemned the Indian authorities for unleashing arrest spree against political leaders and activists in the territory. The JKSM said during night raids police ransack properties and thrash inmates. It said that dozens of party activists had been arrested and shifted to Kupwara, Baramula and Srinagar jails.
