Srinagar, March 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, members of various trade bodies staged a protest demonstration at Lal Chowk in Srinagar against the summons sent by the National Investigating Agency to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and ban on Jamaat-e-Islami.

Traders were holding placards that read “Stop harassment of our leaders”, “Stop interference in our religious affairs”, “NIA summons to Mirwaiz not acceptable.”

The traders also expressed resentment over imposition of ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and slapping of Public Safety Act on Jamiat Ahal-e-hadees chief Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri. “We have gathered here to protest against continuous harassment of our leadership and arrest of religious leaders, this is direct interference in our religious affairs,” said Sajad Gul, coordinator Kashmir Inc.

“Banning of Jamaat-e-Islami and slapping PSAs on religious leaders is unacceptable. Organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami are socio-religious organisations that work for the betterment of society,” he said.
