Srinagar, March 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has expressed concern over the raids and arrests in nook and corner of the valley.

The party spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said arresting hundreds of people for their political ideologies has turned the territory into a big jail where people are scared even expressing their feelings.

He said the men in uniform have been set free to arrest each and every Kashmiri who has a different political ideology. The irony is that these undemocratic arrests are being made just before the so-called parliamentary elections, he said, adding caging people before elections is a mockery in the name of democracy.

Meanwhile, Ummat-e-Islami Chiarman, Qazi Yasir, in a statement denounced the India’s oppression against political and religious leadership in the territory. He also condemned the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and arrest of its leaders and cadres.

Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Shafi Lone in a statement in Srinagar described the military operations and arrest spree in the occupied territory as frustration of the authorities. He said peace in the region is impossible without settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute.
