Srinagar, March 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have denounced the killing of school principal and Jamaat-e-Islami activist, Rizwan Asad, in the custody of India’s National Investigation Agency at an infamous torture center, Cargo camp, in Srinagar.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir (TeH) Chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed his deep anguish over the cold-blooded murder of Rizwan Asad, a resident of Awantipora. “Such brutality is unjustified and has no place in the civilized world,” he said and added that harassment of innocent Kashmiris by forces had become a routine.

Tehreek-e-Muzahamat (TeM) Chairman, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqi, said that in its pursuit of keeping its illegal occupation through military might intact New Delhi had turned occupied Kashmir into an open killing field.

Democratic Freedom Party in a statement while terming the brutal killing of Rizwan a brutal act, appealed to the human rights activists to come forward and take this serious issue to the International Court of Justice so that the culprits are given exemplary punishment.

The Chief Patron of Pairwan-e-Wilayat Sibte Muhammad Shabbir Qumi in a statement said that the killing of a teacher was the killing of a nation. He said that custodial killing of Rizwan had exposed the vulnerability of Kashmiri people.

Hurriyat leaders Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Imtiaz Ahmad Reshi, Ghulam Nabi Waseem, Farooq Ahmad Tawheedi, Hurriyat fourm, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement and Kashmir Economic Alliance in their separate statements also denounced the killing in custody. They said the killing of a teacher in cold blood makes it amply clear that people in Kashmir are totally unsafe. Kashmir Bar Association staged boycott of court work in protest against the custodial killing of Rizwan Asad. The Bar Association General Secretary, Muhammad Ashraf Butt, in a statement demanded the investigation of the custodial killing by a special investigation team, which should report the result of the investigation on daily basis to the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar. The Bar Association also asked the international community to take notice of the brutal killing and massive human rights violations being committed by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir on the daily basis.
