SHO among two Indian policemen injured in Sopore blast

Srinagar, March 21 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, two Indian policemen, including an officer, were injured in a grenade blast in Sopore town of Baramulla district, today.

Unidentified persons lobbed a grenade at a police party at Main Chowk Sopore. Two policemen, including the station house officer of Dangiwacha Police Station, sustained injuries in the explosion. The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Soon after the incident, Indian troops and police personnel cordoned off the area and launched searches to nab the attackers.

People took to the streets and staged forceful anti-India demonstrations in the area. Indian police and troops fired teargas shells to disperse them, triggering clashes between the demonstrators and the forces’ personnel.

Several people were injured in the brutal actions of troops and police. One youth, Irshad Ahmed, suffered a bullet injury during the clashes. He was shifted to sub-district hospital Sopore for treatment.
