Srinagar, March 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people staged forceful demonstrations in Tral area of Pulwama district after Indian police and troops arrested more than a dozen youth from various areas.

The families and relatives of the arrested youth assembled at Bus Stand in Tral and marched towards the main market. The protesters were demanding immediate release of the detainees.

A woman protester on the occasion said, “During last one month Indian forces have detained 20 youth in Tral. We are worried about their safety as so far there is no information about their whereabouts.”

Indian police fired teargas shells to disperse the protesters.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leader, Javaid Ahmed Mir, in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemned the arrest of Hurriyat leaders, activists and innocent youth during nocturnal raids.

He said the health of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists including Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi, Naheeda Nasreen, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Peer Saifullah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shahid-ul-Islam, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal and Shahid Yousuf languishing in jails is also deteriorating fast which is a matter of concern.
