Mirwaiz condemns ban on JKLF » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, March 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has strongly condemned the banning of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) by the Indian authorities.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that such tactics would not change the reality of the Kashmir dispute.

“Strongly denounce the ban on JKLF after Jamaat-e-Islami. Such anti-Kashmir tactics will not change the reality of the Kashmir issue nor the urgency to resolve it,” he said.

The JKLF led by Muhammad Yasin Malik was banned by Indian government on Friday for its pro-freedom activities in occupied Kashmir. Yasin Malik is illegally detained at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA).

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) spokesman in a statement strongly condemning the banning of political activities in occupied Kashmir by India said democracy is a distant dream in the territory where people are treated like cattle. He said that banning of political activities had made the atmosphere of the region suffocative and people were compelled to shoulder the coffins on daily basis. He said that the Indian authorities had jailed leaders like DFP Chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, and people had been left at the mercy of the men in uniform who had been set free to silence the masses by using all repressive means and measures.
