Srinagar, March 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops and police personnel used brute force on peaceful protesters in Awantipora and Arwani areas of the territory.

The police resorted to use of brutal force and fired teargas shells on students of Islamic University of Science and Technology in Awantipora area of Pulwama district. The students in large numbers gathered to demand justice for Rizwan Asad, who was a visiting professor in the university.

Rizwan Asad was killed in Indian police custody at notorious Cargo Camp in Srinagar last week after he was detained by the personnel of India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Special Operations Group from his home in Awantipora.

A student while speaking to media men said that the students in large numbers gathered shouting slogans to demand justice for the victim of the custodial killing. As soon as the students tried to march towards the main road of Awantipora, the Indian policemen deployed there did not allow the students to move ahead and fired teargas shells to disperse them.

Indian forces’ personnel also fired teargas shells on people during protest against a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Arwani area of Bijbehara in Islamabad district.

Meanwhile, Indian troops launched violent CASOs in Shopian, Islamabad, Kulgam and Rajouri districts.
