IOK authorities impose restrictions in downtown Srinagar

Srinagar, April 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities imposed restrictions in parts of downtown Srinagar, today, following massive protests inside the Central Jail Srinagar, last night.

The restrictions have been imposed in parts of Srinagar’s Old city including Nowhatta which houses the historic Jamia Masjid. Barricades have been erected at several places to curtail the movement of people.

The authorities have also put under house detention the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who delivers weekly Friday sermon at the Jamia Masjid.

At least a dozen inmates were reportedly injured due to the firing of pellets and teargas shells on protesting prisoners in the jail, last night.
